Converter Upgrade

I have the Parallax 7455, the stock 55 amp converter for the 2006 classic (This is based on memory, which is often faulty). I wish to upgrade to a converter that also has an "intelligent" battery charging system.

Two models were found from a Google search. They are the Intelli-Power PD9160A with the TCMS option (60 amps dc output), and the IOTA DLS-55/IQ4 model (55 amps dc output).

I would appreciate feedback on what other members have used for this application.

Many thanks,
Nick Meloy

I bought and installed the DLS-55 with the IQ4 external module a few months ago and have been very happy with its performance. That configuration costs a few bucks more than the internal IQ4, but to me it is worth it.

I opted for the external IQ4 because of its versatility. The green LED which blinks decodable flashes is very nice to have where you can see it. Where my Converter is mounted it would not have been possible to see the LED at all, without a mirror. The ability to unplug the IQ4 also allows some control over what the converter is doing.

Regards,

Ken

After talking to Randy at BestConverter.com I went with the WFCO 8955 replacement. Mostly for the upgraded 3 stage charging. I've been very happy with it and it was a simple 45 minute install.
