I have 160 hours on my Champion 3400W DualFuel generator, all of which used to run my 15000btu air conditioner at all elevations, humidity, and temperatures and it has never failed to run the air conditioner. I use the Airstream the same whether on shore power or the generator.

We purchased the DF Champion about a month ago...after the 5hr break in we ran a friend's 15btu sob RV and had no problems running and this was on propane...
Very happy with it and was pleasantly surprised at the fairly low noise...
I hope to never run gas thru it and just run it on the propane..got it on Amazon on a "down price" of $900 free shipping...

Seeing you purchased it, you'll be happy with it. It is fairly thee quiet which is what you want....and in eco mode.

They were selling them at newegg for some crazy number like $600 or something.....we got ours then.

We run only on propane.

We also run one of our ACs off it and it does a great job. It will eat the propane tank in about 20 hours if you leave it running that long......so be sure to keep an eye on the levels as you run it.

We have yet to use our 2nd tank on the road, so overall it is pretty "efficient" for what your asking it to do......

Let us know how you make out.

Thank you all for your quick responses to my questions, I missed a 0 in 15,000 btu, that’s what happens when you write it early in the morning. It seems to me the Champion 3400 Duel Fuel is the way to go, price is right, good customer service, ticks all the boxes. Would love a Honda or Yamaha but just can’t justify the cost when I would only use it maybe 5 times a year..

Firman 3200W Dual Fuel

Does anyone have a Firman 3200w Dual Fuel Inverter, want to know if they are any good, and can they start the 15,000BTU AC unit using propane on my Flying Cloud 25’ TBR?
Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Hell you can start any RV A/C unit with a generator that size, any brand. Lots of threads on generators, loads, soft start devices, just spend some time searching.

There's at least 2 threads floating around right now. This one goes back to 2017.
The issue with the Champion 3400 isn't capability, it's liftability. I'm still able to horse it into my pickup by myself (I think it's just under 100 pounds), but I would not want to make a habit out of it.

over 3 years on the champion

Well, we have had our Champion 3400 for almost 4 years now! Unbelievable! It has performed perfectly for our use. I have only ever run it on LP so far as I didn't want to have the mess and smell of gasoline. It has run for hours at a time without so much as a missed beat. It powers everything in our 23ft Airstream including the A/C. I have taken it out a couple times to run power tools in remote areas. When the power goes out in the neighborhood we just plug the Coleman into the Airstream and cook and spend time in the airstream if we need conveniences. I have done one oil change on it and it has never run low. So far I haven't anything to fault it for. Yes it is heavy but so far not so heavy that I can't lift it into the back of our Silverado pickup. I like it alot and having a power source that can run anything that I own gives us great peace of mind. I am thinking of having an electrician wire a plug and play connection that will run only our kitchen in an emergency so that I can plug the Coleman into the house if need be. I hope that this helps anyone looking at the Coleman 3400 dual fuel generator. I'm sure there are many other generators out there that are just as good but I don't regret buying this one at all. Tom
