LED Porch Light
I have noticed how the lens on the porch light has melted and decided there must be something better. Someone I believe has already stated how the 1156-PCB-WHP9 White LED Lamp $ 21.95 (each) works very good. This is from superbrightleds.com I installed one along with a new lens and noticed just how bright these LEDS are!! So, to diffuse the light I used an 8 oz. stainless steel dog bowl that I did some cut outs on. No more melted lens even with the light staying on all night, and hopefully the neighbors will not be bothered by it.

You need one hole in the center for a blue dot.

RLS--
Which 1156-PCB-WHP9 White LED did you use? The "Cool White" or the "Warm White"?

Our LED "scare light" is pretty bright. I was thinking about at least frosting the lens so it doesn't blind our visitors.

Overlander63,
Not to be off topic here, but why are they called "scare lights"??? That is an Airstream c olloquialism that I do not know the background to.

It's the same style of light fixture used in one of my favorite movies, "Monsters Inc"
Ya know, your question just made me realize this little known fact. Thanks for asking!

These bowls are VERY thin. I used a diamond impregnated cut off disc with a Dremel. There are a lot of good burs and diff. discs. you can find from a dental lab supplier.
The bulb is the cool white one.
