I am having the same problem on my 1977 Trade Wind. I have checked everything and have discovered that the way clearance lights were designed back in 1977 is my problem. They depend on a small plastic post (actually 4 of them) to hold the socket connection to the ground and +12 volt feed. Some of my 16 sockets are not tight any longer. So, if I push on the connection with a screwdriver, they work. I am still looking for a permanent fix. If I find one, I will post it.
If yours are new, ground is not an issue but the +12 volt wire could be an issue. That is a more difficult problem to trace. I had a short is one of my clearance lights and had to cut a hole on the inside skin to fix it. Good luck.....
