1965 Interior Overhead Bulbs
What is the correct bulb # that goes in the overhead rectangular light fixtures? Right now there are a variety of different bulb #'s in there.
Thanks.

Here's a thread that gives the bulb numbers for a '64 - They're probably still the same in '65.

The correct bulb is 1141 that has a clear bulb.
Or, if you prefer more diffused light, you can use 1141 F (frosted.

And if you are planning on doing LOTS of boondocking, you can look into the #1156W LED bulb. Direct fit, very low amp draw, very high initial cost, but last virtually forever.

Caution!
The thing to watch for is mistakenly using an automotive turn or tail light bulb(#1156). They look the same, but draw more current, and more importantly for the fixture, get HOTTER. I think Andy pointed this out before, but keep it in mind.

Exactly. LED's don't get really hot, so there is little danger of heat damage to fixtures with them, but don't substitute a regular 1156 in place of an 1141. End result will be melted lights.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'll go look for a bunch of #1141 bulbs tomorrow for my overhead fixtures. Now, how about the reading lights? I have three sets in my trailer that look like these ones. What is the proper bulb # for them? Thanks again!

That light is the original "bullet" light used by Airstream.
The correct bulb looks like a funnel.
It's number is 1383.

The 1141 fits nearly every incandescent light fixture in our trailers. An interesting exception is when you move outside, the scare light takes, IIRC, a #1037, double filament bulb that looks like a standard tail/turn signal bulb. It is not, and the 1157 will melt the lens if used.

Terry,
The manual for 71 at least shows a bulb #90 for the outside lights..?
Darn if it doesn't look like another project - going around and checking that the bulbs are all correct.
