Would appreciate opinions on water flow

I can't completely stop the water flow from rim of toilet. Sprayed oil behind foot pedal and worked it quite a bit but can't stop flow. Any other suggestions before I take it apart? Leaving next week on trip to Arkansas mountains. Will be a test for trailer and old salt.

Had the same problem 2 months ago. I was ready to take things apart and the problem went away. Yes I also oroginaly thought it was the lever mechanism not returning to the closed position and would let it slam shut. Once it solved itself the only reason I could think of may have been a speck of dirt on the valve seat.

Not sure this is an answer you can hang your hat on but if you do end up taking things apart the valve seat is the first place I would look.

We were in Mountain View and at Petit Jean SP a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed our trip. As for the toilet, I would say either trash or a bad washer/seat and since repeated pedal activation hasn't helped I would think it was the valve. I do not know if the valve is servicable or must be replaced as a unit. Hopefully just a cheap washer.
Have a great trip.
