Toilet trouble

I was preparing my 74 Tradewind for the first trip of the year last night and after fixing a couple of minor pipe leaks I noticed my toilet was making a slight hissing sound. It was working fine and I did not notice any leaks immediately, but later I found a puddle coming from under the bottom front right of the toilet. I'm wondering if this might be some kind of seal leak. I have a Thetford Aqua Magic GL toilet and this has never happened before. Can anyone tell me how to access the inside of the toilet to determine how to repair this or do you think it is time for a replacement?

I have a copy of that, but I cannot see how to get to any of the screws to release the toilet from the floor. Have any experience with that?

Ahh the dreaded toilet hiss. Had the same thing after messing with the fittings in the adjoining cabinet to tighten them. Look at the diagram Lee posted. Mine cracked at the plastic fitting at the rear of part 8 - guess I was a little rough on the toilet feed line in the cabinet.

Push down on the pedal and put a plastic soda bottle in the toilet hole to hold it open. Water off to the toilet of course. Next to the pedal is the front hold down bolt head. Remove the plastic part number 11 and look in to see the second hold down bolt. That one is a bear to get out. I highly recommend you get your bolt size from the front one - then go to Lowes and get one of their flex head ratchet wrenches.

Once the bolts were out I couldn't get the copper feed off without fear of breaking the rest of part 8. So I cut the line at the back of the toilet. The fitting on ours at the rear was in two parts. So we were able to replace the broken piece with copper. Hopefully you'll find that is the only part that cracked. I replaced the copper toilet feed line with 3/8ths by 3 feet stainless line and a step down coupler on both ends (Lowes or Home Depot). If you pull the toilet you'll need the gasket in part 10 - get that from almost any RV Dealer.

I had a leak on mine last year, an Aquamagic. My leak was the water valve. A replacement was available for $45. I did consider just replacing the toilet, but went for a repair instead. A pretty easy job.

My trailer is a 31' center bath and has an access panel in the bulkhead behind the toilet, which can be opened from the bedroom to get to the water line and the rear bolt that anchors the toilet. It might have been possible to replace the water valve with the toilet in place, but I pulled it up anyway so I could have more room to work.
