Restoring Bathroom on '76 Argosy

HELP!

What did you guys use to restore your bathroom's ABS plastic. Plus I was thinking of painting the faded plastic, what are your ideas?

Restoring Bathroom on '76 Argosy

I faced a similar quandry with my '64 Overlander. It had a very tired looking Avacado Green bathroom that just didn't coordinate with the new blue, silver and white interior. I found the easiest route to be professional refinishing. For less than $600, my entire bathroom was refinished in antique paltinum. One reason that I chose professional refinishing was the number of different fiberglass and other plastic components in my Overlander's bath - - it required at least three different primer products as well as three different finish products to achieve the results wanted. My regular plumbing and heating contractor referred me to the refinisher that I hired as he was several hundred dollars less expensive than other refinishers who didn't seem anxious to tackle an Airstream bathroom. The photo below is of the finished product:

Restoring Bathroom on '76 Argosy

Greetings Coolerow!

My suggestion would be to contact your favorite local plumbing and heating contractor and ask for a recommendation. The contractor that did my work did not advertise and worked strictly through word of mouth and referrals from local plumbing and heating contractors. I tried the contactors who advertise in the Yellow Pages, and it took quite a bit of calling before I found two who would even give me an estimate on the project - - and then based upon their prices, it didn't appear that they were anxious to do the job with prices in excess of $750 for one and more than $825 from the other. There are exceptional refinishers out there, but they can be a bit difficult to locate.

Good luck with your project!

Kevin
