Flood

Important Tip: We recently returned home from a 10 day trip around our province. 1 night we were at a water/ hydro site right on the shore of Lake Huron. I woke up in the night to use the W/R and washed my hands afterwards but in the dark - I didn't see I hadn't shut the faucet off completely. As we started to wake in the morning my wife said" do you hear water dripping ?" I jumped out of bed to see the shower base full and just started running over base. Ran outside and drained off a bit of the gray water . Lucky we were just a bit nose high as the W/R is in the back so the little bit of overflow was contained .
I guess life is full of learning... Thought I would share this . We had a great trip overall !

Thanks for the sharing. It is interesting to learn how quickly the grey water tank can fill with a drip-drip-drip from the faucet.

At least it was not the black tank overflowing.

Re: Waterproof Push-Button Switch Provides Momentary Water Pressure for Hand Washing

We boondock occasionally, and I added a waterproof push-button switch next to bathroom sink to allow momentary water pressure for hand washing. This is primarily used to conserve water, but it might also help avoid problems like this.

Here's the link to the push-button switch that I mounted in the wall, and wired into the water pump switch circuit:

Were you on city water? [not positive about "water/hydro site"]

We always try to turn the hose bib off before retiring for the night, and use the fresh water tank for toilet water during the night. Noisier yes, but it prevents things like this, as one hears the pump come on when it shouldn't. Also prevents major problems on the rare occasion that a plumbing fitting lets go in the middle of the night. Also endeavor to turn off city water when leaving the trailer empty.

Glad the damage was limited!
