Brown water stains

After a week stay near Halifax NS, where the running water is realy brown, I am not kidding!
Because we have to keep a certain level of water in the toilet, that water left brown stain. We can not get rid of it! I tried many toilet cleaners, I tried Chlorox that I left for few days ... Nothing to do with it!
HELP PLEASE!

Do a google search for rust stains. There's tons of suggestions out there: everything from Lysol power out, to Mr Clean eraser. Clorox doesn't do a thing for rust stains, and that's probably what you have. What you use probably will depend on what type of bowl you have: porcelain or plastic. Good luck!

It may sound kind'a yucky, but some 600 grit wet sandpaper worked on our 63 Safari plastic bowl. Don't see why it wouldn't work on porcelain also.
