Water pump not pumping

Hi this is Sandy's(Isadora) husband Jim. She's trying to teach me how to use this forum! |
I have a problem with the water pump on our 76 Argosy. Pump runs but does not pump water. Its a Parr pump. Is there a trick to get to pump water?

Don't know if this will work for you or not but I had this problem twice with another brand of trailer - not sure what brand of pump it had. Both times I partially filled the water tank and then went out and drove around for a few minutes and when I finished the pump worked fine. Maybe the water sloshing around "primed" the pump and cured the problem. Worth a try if you can't come up with anything else.

I have a valve between my pump and the tank. It is used to winterize the system. It could cause the same problem.

Smile Hi

Fill your water tank to the top this will push water into the lines and help with the priming. Also hook up city water and presurized your lines. Aftret you presurized thelines turn of the city water and try the pump again. It works for me.

I have a 3 way valve on the suction of the pump to draw anti-freeze. I left it open and it just sucked air vice pumping water. Pressurizing the system with city water is an excellent sugestion. I would think it was a priming issue before a faulty pump. Those pumps seem to last forever.

Thanks will fill the tank all the way up, I only filled it halfway. And I had drained the lines after having the city water hooked up to test the pump to see where it leaked (and tightened the screws where it was leaking) so tomorrow I will pressurize those lines again and see it that helps. There is no three way valve on there (yet) so that isn't it.
