Water Filter System Under Sink

I have a 2017 Flying Cloud 25 FB and would like some recommendations on under the counter water filtration systems.

I have a Seagull IV and it is supposed to be the best. A little pricy, but what is clean water worth?

If you want good water it will be expensive to get it under the sink, because of the lack of space. If you put the filters outside the trailer, you can get good water for much less money.

I also use the Seagull IV. It easily mounts under the lavatory countertop.

we use a triple filer just for drinking water

and a whole house main filet. its is HIGH flow style for all water entering

Did you add a new separate faucet or connect it to the kitchen sink?

The kit comes with a separate faucet and I just tee'd off the cold water line under the lavatory counter. I put a shut-off valve in the line to the Seagull IV to make winterization easy (just remove the filter.)







It is small enough that it could be installed under the galley counter, but we felt that it was more convenient in the lavatory for brushing teeth etc. It is handy to fill the kettle there for making coffee and tea too.

The under the galley sink filter was a pain to take off every winter, and put in the bypass pipe, and return the filter in spring. Now I just keep the bypass pipe in year round, and hook up a filter at the city water source out side the AS. Now all my water is filtered.

it goes to a separate tap

its is VERY easy to dismantle.
each of the three cartridges come off with a simple push of a button

Can this filter system be connected to the main faucet cold water vs. installing a separate drinking water faucet?

For a typical RS-1SG cartridge the average life is 1,000 gallons and you would run through a filter fairly quickly running all of your sink water through it. You would need some adapters to put in line with the regular cold water line.

Is there a reason that you wouldn't want the dedicated faucet? You can place it anywhere that you want on the counter top.

We had the Delta PUR in our 2007 Classic. Really liked it till it died. Unfortunately Delta doesn't make that model anymore. Installed an inline filter which works fine but it is a real pain in the neck to replace.

Claims to provide 6.5. GPM output flow. Will be putting it to the test in a few weeks so we shall see and report back.

The real answer to your question is - as is so often the case - another question:

Why do you want to filter the incoming water?

If you're concerned about disease organisms, boil the water. No filter should be relied on for life safety. Better yet, boil and chlorinate. Or bring water from a known good source.

If you're looking for better flavor (or no flavor), a carbon filter will do that for you.

If you just want to keep out dirt particles, get a 5 micron sediment filter unit.

I love my ClearSource. Tested it at a place where we go to alot before the family would not drink the water with the old filter (.5 microns) vs. .05 with the clear source- no more water bottles. It wont remove fluoride if that's an issue.
