I have a 1972 safari and the hot water heater has given up the ghost so it's time for a new one. It is a Bowen model G6A2. I want to reuse the existing stainless cover what can I replace it with? What about pilot based or an auto ignition? What models? Thanks guys
The Atwood 6 gal unit will be a direct replacement, but the SS cover may not fit directly or might need some modifications. Also the gas inlet location will be a little different, and you may need to drill a new hole to match the original pipe location. They have changed a little in 41 years. If you put a DSI one in (direct spark ignition) you will like the convenience of it, but the pilot light ones are $100 or so cheaper.
