Question Black water tank with septic system

I wonder if anyone has a good solution to maintaining odor and cleanliness of the black water tank in an A/S that's hooked up to a septic system. I'm told RID-X is a possible solution. The obvious challenge is in cleaning the tank without harming the septic eco-system. This trailer is basically planted in one spot. -Roy

Septic smell

Make sure your vent is unobstructed. If there is no oxygen, the whole batch will go anaerobic and stink REALLY bad.

Using an enzyme based holding tank treatment will help the septic system. I would do the normal hold and flush process with it connected to the septic system That way you have no buildup under the stool and no buildup in the valve slides/seals.

I use RV Trine and as far as I know all holding tank chemicals in use today are considered septic system safe.

Black Water Tank with Septic

My grandmother used to swear that a cake of yeast once a month solved any odors and would keep it flushing without any problems.

Sometime oldtimers know best!

For years now I've been using a combination of Pure Power (green, 2oz per tank), and a product called Odorcon ((I think 1oz per tank), and i try to wait until the tanks are full before dumpling and adding a new dose of the stuff. All is well . . .
