Black Tank Sits On Frame?

I am reinstalling my black tank in my 1961 Airstream Bambi and I am finding it is sitting on frame (with some wood on top of course). I don't remember it being so far over on the frame, but during my dry fit of all the components, it seems to be required to be there. I'm thinking about putting some rubber gasket material against the frame and fiberglass for safety (although it isn't hitting the frame at this point but who knows in 60 years!). Thoughts?

I not a vintage guy ( maybe someday), but I hear this issue discussed on The VAP. Have you looked there or asked Colin H?

FYI: The black tank on our previous 2011 23fb sat above the floor. In fact Airstream removed the subfloor under the tank and it sat directly on the outriggers.

I'm a newbie here and to Air Forums... can you tell me more about the VAP?
I am swimming in an ocean of info and cant find the answers I am looking for.
I have a 77 Safari and am trying to put the whole interior back together after it
was dismantled by the PO a few years ago!! One of my questions is: Is there a
support frame, boards, or starfoam pad under the black water tank to elevate it
to the proper level? I am trying to reinstall to match original rivet holes for the
plastic tank cover.
