Replace copper connection with standard fittings

I recently tore out my bathroom in order to replace the bathroom floor. The copper water lines terminated directly to the bathroom sink and I had to cut those to remove the sink fixture. Rather than repair this using copper couplers, I'm thinking I should go with standard "hose" fittings and buy a new faucet. What kind of copper fittings should I buy to make this happen? I know very little about plumbing so any info or advise will be appreciated.

depending on the pipe size (1/2 or 3/8) you could put a compression style shut off valve then convert to the stainless braided supply lines used for residential bath fittings. If you don't want a shut off valve, you could probably get a "shark bite" fitting (they are a no tools press on fitting at most hardware stores) that goes from your pipe size to pipe thread.
