"POP" heard when connecting City Water Supply

I connected the hose, turned on the water (oops, forgot to open faucet inside) and heard a pop. From that point, water would drain from a plastic drain hose under my Argosy not far from the water input connector.

I turned city water faucet off and used stored water and water pump for remainder of the trip without incident. Any idea of what I "blew" to cause the city water to leak like it is now and what I need to do to fix it? Thanks.

Hi Tim!
The water comes in the trailer, goes through a pressure regulator and then there is a pressure relief valve. It sounds like you had too much pressure in the lines and the relief valve opened. The good news is that it must have closed because it would be under pressure from the water pump as well. Maybe the air pressure built up because you did no have a line open at the time or the regulator is not working correctly and the city pressure was too high. I'm not sure if these regulators can be adjusted, but it should regulate down to around 35 psi. The regulator and relief valve will most likely be in a place that is very hard to get to. How handy is Gabe?

The regulator in my Trade Wind is gone and I use a regulator attached to the hose.

Tim,
Take a look at this thread and the other thread referenced within and you can see the older and newer types of city water inlet / pressure regulators used.

Could you have "popped" the drain valve for the city water inlet section of the plumbing? Try to locate the location of the "plastic drain hose" on the inside of the coach and you will likely find the regulator close by and the drain valve I speak of.

Let us know what you discover.

Glenn G had a spare regulator and promptly attacked the problem. Unfortunately, even w/ the flow reduced to around 35 psi, the city water continued to drain from the "overflow hose" beneath the trailer.

It's pretty amazing, how eventually you end up taking the whole dang trailer apart...piece by piece. I'm starving Gabe for a couple of days so that he can fit into the small plumbing space. I'll let you know how it turns out (and if he gets out).
