Copper Pipe Size

This is probably a stupid question but here goes. I am making a repair to a copper pipe line in our 1971 Airstream. I can't figure out what is the exact size of the pipe that I am repairing. I need to know because I want to insert a piece of pex piping and use shark bite fittings to complete the repair. Before I buy any parts I need to know what size I am looking for. The pipe is located in the rear bath area and runs along the floor under the lip that exists between the bath and the hallway. Any help would be appreciated.

Hate to be the bad news bear, but if you can't figure out the exact size of the tubing, it probably has been frozen and swollen to the point where a shark bite won't fit.

You'll need to cut it back to where it's not freeze damaged and start from there.

No, it wasn't frozen. There is an old repair that was done and the compression fitting failed. I want to replace this with a shark bite or the like.

I'm not sure if it inside or outside diamater.

Main feed is usually 1/2,after a tee or so it goes down to 3/8 these are inside diameter,to get inside size ,measure outside then -1/8".1/2" is the smallest 5/8 o.d.sharkbite fitting I have seen. Dave
