rear awning operation

used my rear window awning for the first time(2009 25ft) and don"t see what holds it up after rolling it back up
i see no latch

There's no latch on the back one, the spring is enough to hold it in place going down the road.

I am guessing one could partially dismantle the assembly and add a turn or two more tension to the spring. I would think any dealer with experience working with the awnings could do this. It's probably also something a skilled tinkerer could figure out, but I'm not recommending that simply because I have no experience with it and don't know if there are any "gotcha" details to it.
