Awning rafter won't "click"

Awning rafter arm won't lock
Any thoughts as to why the rafter arm won't "click" when I try to lock it in to position? This is on a 2016 AS Bambi.

Service with some silicone spray down the tube and the shaft of the pin.
Just a little dirt can cause friction and not allow slide or click.

My method is to unfurl the awning, place the rafter arm on the roller shaft, and then I go outside the awning, facing the trailer, grasp the rafter arm and pull towards me, firmly.

We tried silicone spray, lots of it. I stood facing the trailer and pulled outward, no luck. We both pulled together as hard as we could, same result. The spring tension feels very strong, and the slider gets to a certain point after moving about an inch and gets stuck. It is the same on both sides. If you take the rafter arm off the roller you can move the slider in and out fairly easily.

We had one that the ratchet lock got turned 180 degrees could push it in but had to hold knob out to pull rafter out and it would not lock.

If the arms get bent, even slightly, they will jam. Try pushing on the arm slightly at the slip joint in each of the four directions perpendicular to the arm while pulling. I have to push mine up.

Also sometimes you have to take the joint apart and clean the inner tube. I use silicone spray and a scotchbrite pad. You have to disconnect them at the bottom. Be careful because it may try to wind up some more. You may need someone to hold the part attached to the awning while you clean it.
