Should I or shouldn't I

So, we have a 1965 Caravel which has most of the clearcoat on it gone. Only the lower sections have any left. I would love to polish it up but there are many dents and scrape marks on the top. I don't really know how they got there, it looked like that when we bought it. If I remove the rest of the clearcoat and decide to remove the oxidation by polishing it, are the dents going to be more or less noticeable? The trailer looks pretty rough right now and I don't want it to look worse Thanks for any replies!
