Decals

I have a 1970 Overlander International, and we attempted stripping and repainting the decals, but they are very corroded and they just don't look very good, anyone know where I can get replacement ones?

Thanks!

I may be wrong, but I think Vintage Trailer Supply sells them.

Check them out.

Vintage Trailer Supply does not sell the pieces you need. The ones available are the older style. Once in a blue moon you will see emblems, logos etc come up on ebay. Otherwise, you can look for salvage parts or do as most do and restore what you have. HiHoAGRV posted on how he restored his.
Good luck. Let me know what you find--I have a 1970 Sovereign that needs new logos too.

Kiah ~

Can you post a picture of what it is you're trying to replace, restore or replicate? I've restored a few of my emblems that are aluminum that have the recessed area that needed to be repainted and I am very pleased with the results. If we can see what it is you are referring to, it would help.

1970 Airstream trailers, "did not" use any type of decals.

The words "Airstream," above the front window, "International," the flag, and the name or length of the trailer (Overlander or Ambassador) are castings.

These castings have not been available for many years.

ColawsRV had some of the Airstream letters that you need for the front and the back of the camper, that was a year or so back. BUT, they aren't cheap. Are you sure you can't work with what you have? Do they look like this: 70Overlander

decals part 2

Okay so after a bit of research and some time spent in grimy metal shops, it seems they are not repairable, I ended up taking them to a chroming/plating place and they said they are too far gone. They sugessted taking them across the street to a metal shop and having them casted and remade (sorry if the terminology is wrong, you get the idea) and make new ones out of stainless steel. This will not be cheap, but hey it's an airstream right?

Don't have any pics to upload of them, will do that soon but the metal is very "pocky" and I think they are beyond repair.

I'll post again once I find a good solution, thanks all

New castings in stainless steel ehhh?

Sure you don't want to buy a new trailer before going through the trouble and cost?

My trailer at one time had this international trim on it, but it was removed during the restoration process, and the trailer was painted silver. They used bondo over the old holes. Inland RV has information on this if you are interested. May be cheaper than casting stainless steel trim.
