I just got off the phone with these guys. My vendor is really not the guy to ask the technical questions so i have been refered to a company rep. Im expecting a call late today. Im basically going to tell him what we have and ask him how his product might benefit our trailers (if at all). I also asked about the small bottle pictured in the ad. I will post once he calls back.

Thanks Vin

Still working on information about this product. Seems to be part of the secret society or aerospace research?! Hard to track down the manufacture. Today a rep gave me a phone number and a special reference id for this product. The company is US technology - aerospace research division. I tried calling but it just rang. Maybe a back office. The guy told me he was not suppose to hand this number out. I will keep trying and post back. In the mean time i keep checking the airstream to make sure my clearcoat didnt bubble up LOL! actually i would be crying....
i will let you know what i find out.

Vinnie

Re Micro poxy (as finish)
Hi Vinnie,
Wondering if you heard anything definitive yet. There's an airplane guy in Petaluma who seems helpfull -- Electro-something. I'm interested because I stripped the zolatone from the interior of 1960 Caravel and am going to leave the aluminum surface, but I'm looking for something to protect it. I did a couple of tests with Por-15 semi-gloss clearcoat -- it settles the remaining glare a bit, but has a whitish-yellowing finish, and shows brushstroke somewhat. Also deadly and gagsville.
Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Gladiola,

This is a strange story. I wont say anything just yet but once i get the MSDS i will share what been going on behind the scenes with this product. I would say this is more like a wax protectant. If you are looking for something to coat the existing aluminum other than a wax finish this may not be what you are looking for. This seems to work very well with existing clearcoat. The shine is amazing. You can try it. It sure wont have any negative affects on bare aluminum. Im just waiting to see whats in it and how it affects clearcoat.

Thanks Vin

Thank you. It's my impression that the product you're experimenting with is not the two-part product from the same company that somebody else posted a picture of. Will look forward to hearing re clearcoat. I could get some and experiment with a couple of spots, one with clearcoat, one without, since much of my surface willl be behind cabinets etc. Thanks again for detective work.

MICRO-POXY AIRCRAFT CLEARCOAT from Aircraft Spruce

Micro-Poxy
I just used it today - The description is amazing and it seems to apply very easy - love it!
I believe that the $1 Million plane owners know what they are doing to keep their coated alu planes healthy!!!

Hello Michael,

I found it very easy to apply as well. I was not successful on obtaining an MSDS so i dont know whats in it.. Im still not sure if the words Clearcoat mean that it provides the clearcoat or it works on clearcoat. In talking with the guys at Aircraft Spruce they assure me its the perfect fit for what we are doing.. but i dont know for sure. Glad your happy with the product.. time will tell..

Cheers Vinnie

Xxponet

While researching the maker of Micro Poxy, I contacted the company and got a call back today from a Donald Fraser. He is indicating they have a new product called XXPONET. They will soon have a website Xxponet.com which is not yet active but he says will be in several weeks. He is sending me some to try. States it is good directly over the clearcoat, applies like wax. Presently I have no problems BUT I am looking to do as much preventative matainance as possible. I will update as soon as I get more info.

Hi Jim,

Good work. When i spoke to the guy representing the company he said somethink like that as well. There might be a new product that they can release to the public as this one is tied up in legal wranglings. I will stay posted for this new website.

Thanks Vinnie

O.K. So if this Micro poxy works...will it work on the bare metal just after its been polished? We were looking round to see what to wax the finished areas of the AS...don't know yet. Also about how far will one jar of that micro go you think?

I was able to wax my 30' twice on one bottle and maybe three times if I didnt go crazy with the stuff. Its very easy to apply and remove. I understand that most aircraft do not have a clearcoat on the aluminum so in theory this is the perfect application for the older airstreams.

I am waiting for the new product called X-ponent. I will try that in a small area and watch the results.

Good luck

Vinnie

Xxponet

The web site is now live. Anyone used this product yet on a late model Airstream?
