Shades for Fan-tastic Fan

I have a 2019 Flying Cloud 30RB. It has shades on the main skylight, a few upper portholes, and 1 of 2 Fan-tastic fans. I don’t understand why every other skyward facing source of light would have a shade and not this one fan. Is that typical? I would like to have a shade on both fans. Any ideas on how to order one? They are made by United Shade, a Dicor company. I want to make sure I get the same color, fabric, and dimensions as the rest of the shades.

I also bought some of this to cut, fit and put behind the shade. reduced my internal heat a lot and gave my AC an even chance to cool the interior in 90-degree weather.

The Fantastic in the bedroom area is supposed to be equipped with a shade. The Fantastic in the main living area is not supposed to have a shade.

The first thing we did when we got our Airstream was to install two Maxxair vent covers. These come in various colors. We installed black in the bedroom and tinted in the living area. In our unit the bedroom had no shade and the living area did. That was fine by us because the cover we installed is black there. These allows you to have the vents open while traveling, in the rain, etc.

Hi

If you take a look at the Fantastic Fan in the bedroom, the shade has a manufacturer and a part number on it. One would *guess* that contacting that manufacturer with that part number would go a ways towards getting a second shade.

No that's not my idea originally. It came from a sales guy at a certain Airstream dealer in ... errr .... North Carolina ...

If somebody noted the manufacturer and part number, then we *all* might get into the same refit process ....

Just check mine. There is no identification visible. It may be on the top, and if so, the shade will have to be removed to see it.

Hi

I believe the ones in the Classic are made by Ocenair. I have no idea if all the trailers get the same shade or not.

Since it's a standard 14" roof vent, can't you use these?

We like the MaxxAir exterior vent hoods because then you can have air circulation at night through the roof vents. With blinds or whatever windows will have to do. Sometimes for noise or the need for powered airflow windows don’t work so well.

We often suck air down through the bedroom vent (turned off) and expelled it through the living area vent.

Yes, there is a sticker that has United Shade on it with a phone number, no part number. Before starting this thread I looked up their website and found pleated shades. They list many colors and fabric types. I was hoping someone might have an easy solution like recommending a certain distributor’s website and ordering a stock item. I saw the following ebay listing, so I had hope that someone stocked what I needed.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-New-Gray-Airstream-Skylight-Night-Micro-Shade-31-25-x-9-5-by-United-Shades-/301699731408

I found the following retailer and based on the options and pictures, I believe they are selling United Shades. As you will see there are many options and I want to get exactly what I have so it matches.

https://www.stevesblindsandwallpaper.com/blinds/product?mfgId=6&prodId=205&styleId=1006&collection Id=6845

I will call the manufacturer Monday to find out which fabric, color, options, etc are used in the units they sell to Airstream.

Fantastic Fan make an opaque white cover that has some insulation value and does not let in any light whatsoever. It replaces the shaded outside cover. It is easily replaced. I have had them on both of my fans for the last several years and they hold up better than the original.

Fantastic fans

Camping world has pillow like squares that fit exactly inside the openings for the fans. They block the light and keep the warmth in and are easy to take out when you want to use the fan function. Very inexpensive i think there about 9 dollars each.

Fantastic has just come out with the Ultra cover that causes no restriction to airflow like MaxxAir. With screen and vent grill to keep out rain it is the answer to continous ventilation. Like the vents they are available in smoke, white, and clear.

Those are the ones I installed on my 27. They were great and easy to install. Four screws. Re-gooo.
