New vehicle smell in Airstream

My wife has asthma and is bothered by the smell in new vehicles. How long does this smell last in an Airstream??

The overall time probably depends on how much air circulation the Airstream gets. We had ours over 3 months before the "new car" smell dissipated, but it didn't get much air circulation. The smell bothered me too, so after the 3 month mark I purchased a large spider plant (that now lives full-time in the shower) specifically for air detoxification. Either the spider plant worked a miracle, or it was just good timing

It took more then a year or more to air-out my Airstream. It’s the out-gassing of formaldehyde that is used in resins in the laminated partitions. Some say it a bit toxic or a carcinogen. I don’t like that odor, it can be irritating, and didn’t know how to speed-up the outgassing, and don’t think covering it up with another order does much good.
Why doesn’t the factory use some other product?

We brought our Airstream home within a month after assembly and I was surprised how little "new" smell it had. And I am very, very sensitive to these odors and we began a six month trip without any problems right away.

This model has aluminum interior wall cladding, all-plywood cabinets and partitions faced with laminate, synthetic Ultra Leather upholstery (cloth is standard), and non-treated plywood subfloor covered with vinyl. These materials seem to be much less toxic than any other brand rv we have looked at.

Same here. I have asthma and had no problem. Just open all the windows and turn the exhaust fan on for a few days. We have the cloth upholstery.

Off-gassing in my Classic isn't bad at all when compared to MDF trailer interiors-

Not sure if this speaks specifically to allergens but we were really happy to note a very positive difference in the internal "climate" when we got rid of the supplied bed cover in favour of a duvet with flannel cover and then replaced the installed carpet with laminate flooring.
