Help! How do I pull couch in 1995 Sovereign?

We want to remove couch from our 21 foot 1995 Sovereign in order to replace the Univolt converter. It would sure save a lot of trial and error if someone out there knows how to open up or remove couch. Any experience with couch removal would be more than I have.
Thanks,
John

Welcome to the forum.

Both removing the gaucho and replacing the Univolt will go easier if you make the wise investment of purchasing the Service Manual for your year.

It's a very worthy purchase, and will give you something to read over the long, hot winter in CA.

There is no factory service manual for 1995 Airstream!

Thanks for the suggestion about a factory service manual.
Unfortunately, that appears to be a dead end for non-vintage models.

Here's what I found using google:

"You can get photocopies of owners manual (1964+) and service manuals (1972-1986) from:

Helen Davis Secretarial Services
PO Box 484 Sidney, OH 45365
(937)492-8885

Prices are about $33 and $70 respectively. After 1986 the Owners Manuals included available service information."

So, if anyone has tips on removing gaucho and/or replacing Univolt, let me know!

Pulling couch on 95 Soverign

Hi,
We have a 1995 Soverign and I put in a new battery charger a few years ago. First pull the drawer under the couch all the way out and remove it.
Remove both armrests. Open the couch part way and reach or look behind and under the back and the bottom. The back is held on with 2 nuts on each side and the bottom is held on with 2 nuts on each side also. Using a wrench or socket (not sure what size) remove these 8 nuts and the back and bottom can be removed from the steel couch frame. Not very difficult.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions I amy not get back to you for a while. We will be out of email range for 10 days
Phil

John,

I bought mine at a local dealer for C$22. A photocopy, but clean and clear.

FWIW, here's a copy of the page of the front lounge (where in heck did the term "gaucho" ever come from?) as pictured in an original copy of the 1977 Service Manual that came with my trailer:
