Trailer mounted brake control?

Howdy!

I posted earlier about a black color box mounted on forward / bow blockhead. It appears to be where trailer wiring connector terminates.

Someone mentioned it may have other function loke brake module than terminating wiring !!!!!

Anyone have brake controller there?

It's my impression that the trailer-mounted sway managing brake system was something they tried in the '70s (and didn't get great results and gave up fairly quickly). It may be that their minds were ahead of the capability of the technology of the day. So in your late-90s trailer it's probably just a convenient junction box to make it easier to change out the whole umbilical rather than having to splice.

Is there another black box that is the breakaway switch?

Probably one inside is terminal block for umbilical. There is also the "breakaway brake" switch on tongue... Different
