set up brake controller

This thursday, i can finally pickup the Airstream in Zeebrugge Belgium. There is a new tekonsha brake controller coming with the trailer.
But...it will be the first time this controller will be used.
How do i have have to setup this brake controller? Is it a question of plug and play?
Thanks!

It has to be wired into the tow vehicle. For some tow vehicles, Tekonsha sells an adapter plug that makes it plug and play (though the controller still has to be attached to the vehicle). In other cases wiring is required. Some tow vehicles don't have trailer wiring and don't have the trailer connector, and retrofitting the wiring for them is fairly involved.

i also ordered an adaptor plug, so that should be ok. But do i have to program the brake controller before use?

No, you just adjust the gain so that you get acceptable braking performance.

The brake controller comes with instructions and a quick step card on how to set up the controller for the first use with your trailer. You can also go the Tekonsh Website and view videos and download PDF files:

Hey QC1500 - out of curiosity - what's your tow vehicle?
