What PSI should I have my tires?

My owners have Goodyear Marthon ST225/75R15 RATED D as in dog. I told them that I did not like the Marthon for my silver dog house. They are wondering what should we set the PSI? It gets hot down here in Texas so if we set them at 65psi cold, it should run them up to 100psi on a hot summer day.. What do any of you folks recommend.

Thank you,
Astro

Fill them to 65 PSI cold and don't worry about it. Truckers have told me that slightly more pressure is better than not enough. Most tire failures are due to not enough pressure.

65 cold or what it has on the plate on the side of your trailer.

35PSI rise would be a a 350 degree or there abouts temp rise. Your tires would be getting soft by then.

Thumbs up What they said...

And if high tire temps are a concern down there in Texas you might

consider one of these.

Also come in handy checking wheel bearings, you'll be surprised what it can

be used for, just don't ask my co-pilot.

Tire Pressure

I recommend that you purchase a Tire Pressure Monitering System because on a double axle trailer you cannot tel when a tire goes flat. You find it when you stop of a passing motorist is pointing at your trailer.
They are a real vacation saver.

Silver sled, it gets hot in AZ too. Likely hotter than TX on the asphalt. When towing I run all my tires at max inflation cold. TV and trailer. I have had zero issues with the tires in the heat of the day, as long as they are not old or worn to the wear bars.

This also means that I check my tires frequently because the temp variation between summer and winter.

We run our Bambi at the recommended 65 psi cold...and installed PressurePros in December...so far we have risen to a steady 71 psi after towing on the highway...at least in the winter months...it will be interesting to see how high it gets in the summer. I would think the increase in psi after driving is taken into consideration on recommended cold pressures.

Hi, Astro. Tell your owner to keep the trailer tires set at 65 lbs cold as per Airstream owner's manual. Your trailer is quite a bit heavier than mine, so I certainly wouldn't run less. I haven't been anywhere cold yet, but I've driven in plenty of 100 degree plus weather. [California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah] No problems so far.
One more thing Astro; Tell your owners that if their trailer still has the original tires, it's time to change them no matter what they look like. [age between 5 and 7 years old need to be replaced.]
