UV tire protection

I am a new Airstream owner and am exploring various options to protect the tires from UV damage.

I have seen an option where a piece of material, similar to the ZipDee material, was inserted into an aluminum channel above the wheel well. The material then draped (hung) down to cover the wheel well during storage thus protecting the tires, which seemed like an interesting arrangement compared to the dual wheel covers.

Wonder if you folks would mind sharing your experience on this topic? I always find lots of great ideas on the Forum.

Thanks in advance.

Wheel skirts are great! There are also white vinyl wheel covers available. Many zip dee wheel skirts go on with snaps above the wheel wells, but we saw some recently which slide into a channel like an awning.

I first used some cheap cloth ones that did not last long and started to really look bad. So I went and got some styrofoam sheets ( 3/4"x4'x8' ). Cut out one piece to fit up under the wheel well and cover both tires and then glued the side pieces on. Painted it black. Have used them so far for 1 yr and still look new.

Thumbs up

These have held up well for 5 Seasons, while on the pad...

This works well on everything exposed, (especially on the roof), AC shroud, vent covers etc.

Some great ideas and suggestions, folks. Wheel skirts....that is what I was trying to describe. Does anyone know where they might be available?
