I have Nanco 7.00 15 LT 8ply tires on my dual axle 1961 Avion trailer. Last year I replaced one of these tires with a Super Cargo ST225/75R15. I'm wondering if this caused some axle balance issues since I'm not certain the tire size was exactly the same as the others. I towed my trailer like this for a few thousand miles and it seemed to cause the Nanco tires to wear faster. I'm buying a new set of tires this week but I still would like to understand the physics of mismatched tires better.
The radial tire has less rolling resistance, and has a smaller diameter. It's not a good idea to mix and match radial and bias tires, as strange things happen, like differences in traction as well as tire wear.

Terry
Smoky, sorry about your tires. I have been reading soooooo many tire threads. I have about decided to go with the 700 x 15 bias ply tires due to the extensive damage that seems to occur when you have a blowout with radials. May I ask which tires you are going to buy? Are you going with the bias ply tires again, radials, and how did you come to your decision?
