Hey how does the rim material and hubcaps effect the operational temp of the tires.. especally the rear tandem set. Are alloy rims better than steel for temp control ?

Never seen any controlled test data but logically aluminum could transfer heat away from the air chamber faster than steel but other things such as paint vs plating vs clear coat and material thickness woulneed to be considered.

Since the internal structure of the tire is generating the heat I would be surprised to learn there is a meaningful difference in tire temperature due to wheel material. I have covered temperature and meaningful vs measurable on my RV Tire blog.

On the over the road trucks, with aluminum wheels the tires run cooler...has been in the advertising for many years....
