Gas lines vs. Axles

I thought I might post a couple of photos showing my 75 Argosy axel and how the gas lines run under the axel. Yes, from the factory that way. I have also had 70's Airstreams with the same gas line under the axle placement. Why did they do it, I have no idea. It must have been easier for some of the workers at the factory(s) to bend the copper lines under the axel than to thread them above. You never know what you will find on a hand built Airstream.

That is strange and not very practical in my opinion. Not only do they run below the axle, there are 2 lines.
My '74 Argosy has one line running just off of the center line of the trailer. I runs above the axle flat against the belly pan. There are tees in the line for branch lines to run to each appliance.
Do you think that maybe the guy that installed the gas lines thought that the axle tube moves like it would on a leaf spring type axle? If that were the case the lines are too close to the bottom as well. Obviously not much thought was given.

My gas line to the water heater is like idroba's. Seems some of the workers were lazy?
