Suburban Furnace lighting Electrodes

Are the electrode wires located inside the furnace, just stainless steel or are they some kind of special material?

Mine look sort of swelled and a little cracked at the tip. I was thinking of using a file to clean them up.

OR should I replace them. Suburban NT-35K
