have fun...
I understood that it is for the governor when used in PC etc applications. Mine is a Silenx http://www.silenx.com/quiet.fans.asp
(with third generation fluid dynamic bearings) but expect the wiring to be pretty much standard. I believe the top: hot, the middle: ground and the bottom wire (cut short to take it out of play) the governor. I cut it flush and tucked into the shrink tubing. I tested mine to the battery posts prior to soldering, crimping and shrinking tubing. I should also say this wire is pretty small, maybe as 22 or 24 and so hard to strip. I ended up twisting the wires together, soldering them, drilling out a butt connection so the twisted would fit the full length, then crimped and tubed. Maybe overkill, but I didn't want to take a chance the nut would come off in consideration of this small a gauge wire.

p.s. just saw troutboy's OEM install. Interesting our are in the uppers fin compartment vs the lower (in our system) coils. I suspect it isn't the exact location as much as the CFM flow of air out the upper door/vent. See above link re opening the upper refer door.

I put 2 right up in the vent exit, they have a few inch gap in between so maybe some performance loss BUT.....

I wired in an inljne 80 deg F switch so that even if I have my fans ON they will only turn if the temp in the area behind the fridge is greater than 80F. Should save them from running when not needed. Otherwise I turn the switch off and they stay off.

They sell the switches on Amazon, just a simple inline switch, toughest part is those tiny wires from the computer fans lol.

INteresting just saw troutboy's post re his fan locations. I guess in the end it's not so much the location (upper fins vs lower coils) as it is the amount of CFM.

Just FYI richw46 has some very good experience and advise on button thermostats, both...

p.s our 20 has a lighted refer fan switch located on the bulkhead wall (refer behind) at our coat rack by the entrance door. A good location so I have an obvious visual when on but accessible from the exterior refer vent door. The refer fan fuses is there too.
