Has anyone taken on the challenge of re-building a Three way refrigerator?
I have Dometic RM 3807 with Ice maker in my new to me Classic MH.
I searched for replacements and after much research, I have concluded that either I buy a unit that is about five inches shorter or buy one that is about 1 1/2" taller, (cut cabinets to accomodate)
And......If I desire ice maker, shell out about
1500.00 +/- for the whole thing. Oh, and I would have to replace my beautiful oak door panels with either a black lexan or a fake wood grain panel at additional cost. (I have deluxe real oak panels on current fridge, Royale Designer series.)
Well after much research, I have found manufacturer of re-built cooling units. cost around 500 delivered to door with two year warranty.
I opted to give this a shot for reasons listed above, fit, Door panels, and ice maker. I would gladly pay
1500 if I could buy exact replacement.
So I have my unit removed and taken down to parade rest.
New cooling unit should be here next week.
I am photographing process and will keep you updated but I am wondering if anyone else has gone down this road and what were the results?
