Hmm, parking space, no. Couch space. Yes.
Here's a pic of our recently-gone-to-heaven friend. Bear. He was a tough one to lose.

Heaven, it's here
Heaven is here, sitting under your awning, one hand holding a Guinness & the other resting on your faithful hound laying next to you. The next level, Paradise, is doing the above while smelling meat loaf being baked in the trailer oven by your second best friend.

I think we lose our dogs and cats so early because they are pure souls, no matter what you do during your time together they never judge you, tell you your lipstick doesn't match your shoes, they LOVE your cooking, and there is absolutely no denying the love and thanks they show in their eyes. I personally would rather hit a human in my car than even a squirrel. Although dumb as a bag of marbles humans should have more common sense. One common thing I hear in friends that have lost and adopted a new best friend is the strange similarities the new pet has. My best friends new dog does THE exact same things her old dog does. Not just one trait, but literally distinct specific habits. I could almost bet its Wally in reincarnation.
I hope to God I don't come back as a squirrel.....

Maybe our dogs and cats create a heaven on earth
We lost our yellow lab, Giallo, several years ago. The little fellow inside looking out is Arzu, the birthday kitty, who travels with us when ever we go camping. Just a few weeks after losing Giallo, we were camping again, and a black cat walked into our campsite and wouldn't leave. He, Mr. Lovey, is still with us.
Maybe they don't go to heaven, but stick around here and come back to visit us again.
I still tear up, thinking about Giallo. Sometimes, it may look like they are lucky to have us take care of them, but we are the lucky ones. If I'm good, I'll come back as a dog or cat in a caring home.

Robert,
Thanks for the tears. What a lovely sentiment about dear Giallo. I like to think maybe Bear is still around. Every night, my 3 year old son goes outside and shouts to the stars :'Good night, Bear!'
We had him for 12 1/2 years. He was a saint and so has been renamed Saint Bear. My husband raised him from a pup and theirs was a friendship for the history books. Bear took special care of me when I was pregnant and was gentle as a lamb when our son was born. Boy, we sure miss him.
Now we have a 6 month old Lab pup named Jet. When he's being a dope I think, 'if only Bear were here, he'd whip you!'
I'll stop before I ramble on about Ol' Bear. But I'll leave you all with this one last fact:
Dogs sleep so much because they love so hard.

One of my favorite quotes...
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."

I think I might know you.
Kittypuke is a most unusual user name.
Do you perchance cohabitate with a real hairball?
If so, I believe I discovered you guys living in my shoe this morning.

hahaha!
My ex's third wife told him when they divorced that he talked sweeter to his cats than he did to her. And she was right, too. He did the same with me!

Here's another take on this subject.
Quote:
Man’s Best Friend – In Heaven
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years.
He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like Mother of Pearl , and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?" "This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked. "Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open. "Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets." The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?" "Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there ". The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog. "There should be a bowl by the pump." They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them. "What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," he answered. "Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?" "No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind."
