I spoke with one of our managers in Ohio today. He told me there is a Packard museum in Dayton, Ohio.
I would like to try to work that into the itinerary.

Kinda thinking this one over and if I was somewhere never been to, I think I'd be looking for what is not in my backyard. About 2 1/2-3 hours east of you is one of the most scenic and unique areas IMHO in Ohio, Amish Country. Cities like Millersburg, Charm, Mt. Hope, Kidron, Berlin and others. Its almost all in gentle rolling hills and trees. Some are a genuine unique attraction, some are tourist traps of course. As a quick guideline if it has a hitching rail with buggies, good thing. If the sign says BUS PARKING----> maybe good, maybe not. Now with GPS it would be easy for you to just take off on a paved 2 lane road to nowhere follow it, take the next L or R when you get to the fork take it too and just enjoy the beautiful farms that are farmed with teams of horses. Don't worry you'll come out on a county road sooner or later, check the GPS and continue on. Some really good cheese houses, but why buy Wisconsin cheese in OH that you can get at home? So choose wisely.

A favorite spot is Lehman Hardware in Kidron. You can spend way too much time and $$ in it easily. But for lunch walk next door to the Town & Country grocery store, go downstairs and get a lunch. This is not on the bus tour. Go upstairs, meat counter and get some Trail Bologna, some Swiss cheese and a box of crackers. I'm hungry.

The roads in that area are so well traveled by buggies that the wheels have grooved the pavement and watch for the road apples.

I'm sure that locals could give more up to date info than I can, we left back in '96.

X2 on Lehman's hardware.
The Packard museum is a 20 minute affair and often not open.

Airstream President Bob Wheeler's house is another area attraction. You'll have to drive to Columbus as he doesn't live in Jackson Center. Click on link:

Thanks for the link, but I have to be honest: I don't like it. The styles seem kind of herky-jerky, cascading one to another, with little to no real theme that I can make out.

I hope Bob doesn't put my name on a blacklist for the next time I bring my TT there!

Went to airstream.com website
Under the listing of 'Company' -- the Airstream Company has a really nice google (?) map with pins showing points of interests and distance from the mothership.

That section states:
"Plan your trip to Jackson Center, OH and take the Airstream Plant Tour. See the Company section of this website for info.
Afterwords, explore these other fun things to do within just a few minutes drive!"

They list 15 points of interest.
I've been through the Air Force Museum and it's fabulous
And since someone mentioned the start point is Mississippi, it so, then you might be going through Cincinnati.
Would you like me to suggest a couple of things to do there?

There's really only one thing to do in Cincinnati...

Don't get killed.

I can't think of anything else to do in Cincinnati.

I didn't mean to offend anyone...after all, my family is from Piqua.

But honestly, the only thing worse than driving through Cincinnati is driving through Dayton. But, the BEST thing about drving in Dayton is that you didn't get killed driving through Cincinnati to get there.

You just ain't lived (or died ha ha) until you've pulled a trailer in rush-hour traffic down I-75 through Cincinnati. I swear they have been doing the SAME road construction there since 1965. Once you drive it and hit that massive curve (you'll know it when you see it) you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Oh come on... I used to drive my Airstream through Over The Rhine en route to Huber Heights all the time. Never a single problem until it was stolen and turned into a Meth lab!

In reference to the post about Cincinnati, is there a good way to bypass Cincinnati. I would be coming from I-40 through Memphis and up I-55 towards Kentucky.

Thanks,
Rick

Cincinnati is not bad! It gets a bad rap!
There are a good many fun and interesting things to do in Cincinnati.
There us a world class art museum free to all. All the downtown stuff on the river. In Newport you cam see the aquarium and some great restaurants there. Cincinnati has some mindblowing parks....Alt Eden etc. There is the concervatory.
Indian Hill is where all of the pld mansions are. The museum center is the old railroad station where there are 2 great museums. Up north is as I have mentioned in another post Jungle Jim's. Traffic and constriction is like that in any other city. Hit or miss.
I would encourage you to explore Cincinnati if you are driving through.
It is not a bad place.

I imagine there will be lots of people hanging around in the terraport with a tow vehicle, a couple of Zip Dee chairs, and a dog.
You can hang out in the pet friendly lounge with coffee and wi-fi.
You can take a factory tour.

I forgot to mention one place that WAS worthwhile.

A restaurant called Inn Between. It's located about a half mile west of I 75.

It's a restaurant/bar with a lot of family's in attendance. Probably the best in the area.
