We are headed out on our first longer trip (spent the last two years with weekend trips in the Finger Lakes Region of New York) and are planning to tour West Virginia/eastern Kentucky prior to going to Alumapalooza the end of May. We have been in full service KOA’s and boon-docked in state parks – all are fine with us. What are recommendations on what to do and where to stay? Thanks in advance for any and all recommendations.
Flatwoods KOA is a good spot for a day or two. The campground located off I-79 near Sutton in the Beckly WV area. Reserve a site in the low area near the amphitheater, pull through & full hooks. It's a good place to relax after a days drive, have a camp fire & maybe do a white water river ride.
We stop there every trip on our way to Buffalo to visit family.
