TAC Illinois Rally - Starved Rock SP - May 13 to May 15

All Airstreamers, Wannabees and Fans of Airstreams are welcome to join six of us TAC members (three trailers) who will be camping at Starved Rock State Park in Illinois during the weekend of May 13th, 14th, and 15th. This is an informal campout where we will have fun. Starved Rock State Park and the surrounding area offer a lot to do for all ages.

The #1 activity at Starved Rock State Park is hiking! There are 18 canyons and 13 miles of hiking trails which surround the Illinois River Valley. The Illinois Waterway Visitor Center Illinois Waterway Visitor Center is always fun to visit and to watch the lock in action. The Illinois and Michigan canal Illinois and Michigan Canal is also close by to visit as is the Buffalo Rock State Park Buffalo Rock State Park For wine lovers there is the August Hill Winery Store and tasting room in Utica.

Illinois State Parks now use the Reserve America system. There will be no rally fee as each attendee is to reserve their camp site. We have booked our sites in the east loop; sites 86 and 88. The camping link is Camp Site Reservation. The phonenumber for the Campground is 815-667-4726.

We will have a pot luck dinner on Saturday night. We are planning on doing Dutch-Oven cooking.

Hi Dave:

How's this rally going? I noticed that it's not on the Airforums calendar, but I remembered it from the "feeler" discussion. I don't have any camping planned in May...still considering this one. I saw that it hasn't been discussed much, so wanted to make sure that it's still a "go".

We got Site 87 fri-sun. Due to work snag, probably wont be there til sat afternoon. Will bring brand spanking new Dutch oven, and be looking for pointers/recipes from "seasoned" users.

It's great that you will be joining us. I will inform the others that you are coming. I have unexpectedly had to schedule surgery for next Monday. Thus we will only be coming out for the day on Saturday (assuming that I can ride in a car).

The weather looks to be all rain for tonight and tomorrow, so regretfully we are cancelling our camping plans for this weekend. We will be going to the Pecatonica campout next weekend though.
