The open road is calling!

For the first time in my life the open road is calling like never before. Not ready yet for full timing in a Minuet :-) but maybe an extended multiple week trip across the South in the spring. Stumbled across this video and it really hit home.

Can a custom furniture maker find happiness on the open road without his life time collection of tools and studio?

Ah the cups, love it, but no matter how long the granddaughter teaches me, I always mess up.

We have the itch to get on the road but haven't scratched it yet. Spent several weeks in a 26 ft Argosy with the hubby & 2 Goldens. Lots of togetherness & we still can't wait for retirement. Have been moving that date up so maybe sooner than later. We are keeping the house but we've moved a lot so who knows where we will end up. I say go as soon as you can! Happy Trails!

Badkat,
Thank you! I can live for days on a compliment like that! Actually I have given this a lot of thought and I could tow with a box truck like Lewster uses and make the studio in the back. I do the final fit and finish with hand tools anyway. Another possibility is a custom made 5th wheel with a 4 ft room on the back with a full back drop down door as the studio floor. Chasing 70 degrees and working outside is very attractive. Also as CWF has suggested, teaching is a possibility. I have gotten old enough and built enough that teaching is more fun anyway. I get a real rush out of seeing someone else discover a love for design, and assisting that love to creation.
