Bob, thanks for the post. We actually went to Campanella on our Wyatt back from Newfoundland several years ago. We were camped at St. Andrews by the Sea and we caught the last ferry of the season. When we arrived at the landing, it was low tide. The ferry captain advised me to hit the ramp and not slow down as the angle was quite steep. I did just that and our rear bumper scooped up half the landing! Regardless, no damage and we had a blast touring the sites.

PS, we are affiliates to 4CU..... hope to meet up someday.

Hey kids, I just found your Instagram account. So cool to see you here again and learn you are having fun in Montana. Of course, we'll still follow you two on the old folks' social media tool, Facebook. You two set the bar for adventure and having fun pretty high. Keep it going!

Northwest Territories

Heading north this summer to spend close to 80 days in NWT. Looking forward to lots of fly fishing, a floatplane trip into NP Nahanni, and new adventures. We are headed up there with another airstream couple. Plan on staying at almost all the territorial parks and a couple of municipal parks. We are traveling first to Fort Liard then heading east. Most stops are 5 nights with the longest stay over in Yellowknife. Don’t think there is a road we don’t drive down. We have been researching this for several months.....but, I’m sure there are some hidden gems we don’t know about.

So for any of you other travelers who have ventured into the great NWT....would greatly appreciate your sharing any input and suggestions.

I tried link to your instagram account, nothing there...is there anyplace else you might have posted pics etc about your travels?

We are only half-timers and older than you all, but like to bike, kayak and hike...so pretty interested in some of the places you've been...

Started our trek to the Northwest Territories on June 12. Crossed the border at Chief Mountain near the Watertown and Glacier National Parks. Drove the Cowboy Trail to Cochrane AB, resupplied, got fuel, and did a very long leg to Dawson Creek, BC. Our first problem. We had noticed our fresh tank was filling when hooked to city water. We checked and rechecked the water pump, had several conversations about the water pump check valve failing with ShurFlo. That was not the problem. Had the internal pressure regulator checked, that was not it. Anyhow, we arrived at Dawson Creek, hooked to city water, and we had a major leak coming through the belly pan covering the fresh tank. Luckily we found a fantastic mobile RV tech and he quickly diagnosed the problem. I had a plumbing schematic and that helped. We dropped the pan thinking the 90 degree joints on the street side had cracked. There were none!!!. Furthermore, there were exposed screws from the cabinet. The pex line had finally had enough and erupted. Crisis over and we were on the road the next morning to Fort Nelson BC.
Got an early start and headed to Fort Liard, NWT, stayed at the Hay Lake Municipal campground, absolutely beautiful spot. Bought our fishing licenses and visited the gift shop and bought a small handcrafted porcupine quill artwork.
The next morning we headed to Blackstone Territorial Park on the banks of the Liard River. Stayed three nights. I found a guy who we hired to take us out to Nahanni Butte, a small hamlet at the base of Nahanni NP....fantastic boat trip. We left there yesterday and arrived in Fort Simpson. We had to take a ferry across the Liard River. We would never had made it if not for my 3” lift kit and 16” wheels....my skid plate still touched, and this was after they built up the launch.
Last night we watched part of the National Aboriginal Day celebrations. A fantastic hoop dancer and many drum dances and much more.
Tomorrow we head up the Mackenzie Highway towards Wrigley and hope to get in some fly fishing. We are staying at the Fort Simpson Territorial Park, excellent.

NOTE: dirt/gravel road on Liard Trail, route 7 has been excellent. Lots of bears, bisons, lynx, a fox, still looking for moose. Diesel is plentiful, people are fantastic. No comment on French fries yet!!!

On the road to wherever we end up....

J&J

I had to look up these places to see where you guys are, wow! Well a water leak below the floor beats a water leaf above the floor anyway.

Good to hear from you folks and the rig is holding up.

Safe travels.

Gary & Linda

Yesterday we drove up the Mackenzie Valley Highway towards Wrigley. We were looking for places to fly fish. Found a nice spot on the Miller River about 12 miles up the highway. We stayed about an hour but no luck. The River is fast and way to muddy. We decided to drive up to the next ferry crossing, another 40+ miles. After that excursion we decided to cancel our two night trip their with our trailers. After three days of rain, the road was quite bad, potholes everywhere. Tomorrow we take a floatplane trip out to Nahanni NP, an eight hour flight with 3-4 stops. Weather forecast is good, so looking forward to that flight.

John

Make sure you let the pilot fly unless it’s a rotary wing.

Our flight today has been bumped to tomorrow. Poor flying conditions in the park has created a backlog, so we try again tomorrow.

Looking ahead we are staying at Jean Marie River for a couple days and then Sambaa Deh Falls for several days. I’ve been told these are great fishing spots from the shore, no boat needed.

Lift Kit

Flight was cancelled again today due to WX. Tomorrow is “clear, blue and 22” so should be a definite go.

For those of you who have ever doubted the utility of a lift kit, I hope this picture helps. This is the ferry ramp taking us across the Liard River to Fort Simpson. I drove down the approach to the ramp and started aboard. I was stopped just as my rear bumper started to cross the ramp. My rear skid plate was about 1/8” from the ramp “no go”. I had to back all the way up the hill, about 200 yards, while they dumped about 30 bucket loads of dirt to raise the ramp. Second attempt, all clear.

I am a true believer in the lift kit. Thanks Gary!

NOTE: There were four motor homes pulled off to the side in a parking area. They finally turned around and left.....

Clear blue and 22?

Come on we just learned what CAVU meant when Pres. Busch passed is that rotary wing mumbo jumbo?

Glad all the effort you put into getting your running gear squared away is paying off. Shoulda been here for the drum brake session a few months ago.

Now get some grub and be ready to get an arial view.

Hi Jeannie.
