November in Zion
Fall can be great camping! Yes, the days are short and the nights are freezing, but with clear days and NO CROWDS, it’s a fine time to enjoy Utah. Driving on from a great tour of Monument Valley, we docked at Watchman CG in Zion NP on Nov. 11. I give Watchman 5 stars for a National Park CG. Great views, large well-spaced sites, and 30 amp hookups at the RV sites. No generators allowed. Clean recently refurbished facilities. It is also just across the river from Springdale - walk or drive to dining etc. All of the roads in the park were open to private vehicles, as the shuttle service was shut down for the season. No traffic, no problems at the pull-overs or parking lots. Zion is spectacular, and quite different from it’s sister NP’s & NM’s - Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Natural Bridges.....
We’ve had no issues towing Jalan Jalan through the sandstorms, high winds, rainstorms and icy mountain roads so far on this trip. We’ll certainly experience snow before returning to Durango. Disconnect and store water and sewer connections at night, run the furnace to heat the plumbing and tanks. Snug and warm - great Fall camping.
Onwards toward WA for Thanksgiving.
