looking for northeastern NV location

We are looking for a nice place to camp that is somewhat near the halfway point between boise and reno - suggestions are appreciated!

If you are just looking for a free place to stop for the night, check out Winnemucca listing in the Boondocking Forum under Cheap or Free in Nevada. There are free campspots about 3 miles south of town up against the mountain just about where the tree line starts. It's quiet, fairly private, but no utilities or dump. I remember seeing about 15 campsites along a road, but we were the only campers.

thanks for the reply - I saw your post in the boondocking thread, and am looking for a long weekend with an AS- and kid-friendly location. My buddy just moved his family to Boise, and we thought we'd meet somewhere near the middle (we both escaped from the OC and miss the proximity of Jtree)
