I275 Bridge Cincinnati

I want to avoid the downtown bridges coming in on I71 fro Columbus ... Is the bridge by Coney Island a good route or should I go all the around through Indiana? Ultimately my destination is Knoxville area.
Regards

Posting to subscribe, I'm interested in hearing what others have to say. We have never gone around on the outer belt, we go straight thru, even with our 30'r.

I used to drive that route on a regular basis. Seems like the route through downtown is often under construction especially backing up around the bridge. If traffic is light, you can zip through. The outer belt has always been smooth sailing for us.

I recommend taking I-275 around the east. I-275 to the west would also work but is longer.

I-75 near downtown Cincinnati is undergoing a complex, multiyear construction project that is adjusting alignments to ease curves, altering various interchanges and exits, and maybe doing a bit of widening in places. As this is all going on, lanes can be temporarily shifted or closed, exits get temporarily (or in some cases permanently) closed, and sometimes there are night or weekend full closures when they're working on overpasses. This is going to continue for a couple more years, IIRC.

At some point, just beyond the current construction zone, they'll be replacing the Brent Spence Bridge that currently carries I-71 and I-75 over the Ohio River. Since Ohio, Kentucky, and possibly the Feds will have to come to an agreement on that, don't hold your breath, but it has to be done eventually.

Going straight thru leads to severe washboard section of road right before the bridge headed into Kentucky. It is very rough, our rig was bouncing so bad, I was sure something broke, but luckily it didn't. I won't ever make that mistake again!

I275 E for sure. watch for state boys at the border they are there patrolling almost every day before the bridge. you might hit traffic when merging onto 71-75, that interchange is a mess also. be patient, once you hit Florence it starts to clear out
