I admit it I am a flashlight junkie. No telling how many I have but my newest and most impressive is a Fentix TK35. It uses 4 lithium batteries and has 700+ lumins. I also have a Fentix LD40 that uses 4 AA batteries that is pretty good as well. IMHO the Fentix is the AS of flashlights and you need to have at least one but probably 2, one for your AS and one for your TV.

That looks like a beauty. I think being a flashlight junkie is inherited from our dads. Ever seen the look on your wife's face when you give her a streamlight for her birthday? It's an interesting one.

I'm not a "junkie", but I do have a "4Sevens Maelstrom G5"; 4 different lumen levels (I believe max is 350) from one LED, SOS, beacon and strobe. Damn nice piece; beats the hell out of a Maglite.

But at one point I went around just for fun and counted 19 WORKING flashlights at home, toolboxes, Airstream, vehicles, etc. Found a bunch more that needed batteries, etc. to get them into working condition. But the new LED machines are much superior in term of light output vs. weight vs. battery size. My only gripe is that the small ones that run on AAA cells don't have a very long run time.

One trick: you can now buy LED replacement bulbs for the old D-cell Maglites that make them MUCH brighter, and give a run time in days, not hours. They're not variable-intensity, strobe, varmint-calling, satellite signalling, etc. But they work well. And when paired with an LED bulb, those big old D cells go for a long, long time. Bulk for sure, but lotsa light for a long time.

No strobes or flashing red lights, just a really good, handy flash light. Got about four of them all around.

I like to have a key chain flashlight so I always have some kind of a flashlight handy. MY last one was a Streamlight, which worked well, but used button batteries, a fill of which cost more than the flashlight. And the batteries had to be replaced too often, because the flashlight would turn itself on in my pocket unbeknownst to me, and run the batteries down.

Here again Fenix seems to have the state of the art solution. I replaced the Streamlight with a Fenix E11, which runs on a single AA battery and has a recessed endcap pushbutton switch, which so far I have never found turned on accidentally.

This is my 'daily driver' in the flashlight category. It has never failed me and I abuse it unmercifully. Re-chargeable batteries do the trick for long run times.

We just bought a Stanley 3 in 1 tripod flashlight; see http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?CATEGORY=FLASHLIGHTS&TYPE=PRODUCT&PART NUMBER=95-155

We saw one at my brother's and really liked it. It acts as one big flashlight in which it can stand on its own or can be used as three sepatate flashlights.

We bought it at Lowe's for around 20 bucks.

Ok, found it. It's a Techlite Lumen Master. It sounds more like a chess defense, measures 5" in length, has bright, brighter and strobe light (for that late night campfire rave) and adjustable beam width. It runs on three tripleA's, has a cute little red low battery indicator on its butt and came in a two pack that couldn't have cost more than 20 bucks. If it were ten times larger it would also be good for hitting fungos and bad guys. I love this little guy....and his twin brother over yonder in the truck.

Retrofitted all my mag lights with LED replacements. Both 'D' and 'AA' types, and I'm very happy so far! Found all on Amazon.com just be sure to study the reviews! I know there are much better new lights out there, but I've had these for 20 years I finally remember were I put them!

You wanna talk about flashlight issues... I have 6 of these Techlite flashlights (1 for each of 3 vehicles, 1 in the active trailer, 2 in the house), a 3-D Maglight from about 1999 converted to LED, an Airstream AA LED unit that lives in my computer bag, and a couple of older cheap, less-good ones that are hanging around the house waiting to die.

The Techlites have been in 3-packs from Costco (hence the 6... the first 3 just weren't quite enough!) The Mag travels in the tool bag which is nearly always in the truck, so it's around for clubbing duties if it ever comes to that.

Hi, I have so many and look at them every time we go to the store, that my wife thinks I'm crazy or something. I have about 9 of the Harbor Freight throw away flash lights. I have from Mag Light, 1 rechargeable, 1 2-D cell, 1 3- D cell, 1 6- D cell and two AAA lights. From Stream Light, I have 1 AAAA pen light, 1 AAA light, 1 AA junior LED, 1 2-C water proof, [Yellow] and a rechargeable Stinger in my trailer. I also have a few 2-D plastic flashlights on my night stands. And one LED lantern. That's 23 that I can remember at this time.

I only have 2 flash lights

One is a big mag light that my wife has had since before led - good advice on led bulb replacement - going to check that out.

Other is a small stream light LED got from bass pro shop for 40 bucks worth of points last year - small thing puts out more than the big mag light - its crazy. But I am not crazy crazy about it because I cannot make it to where there is not an overpowering bright spot for closer use.

I will be checkin out some of the recommendations here.

Academy had sale on the LED which clip in a cap or other surface. Red will not impact nite vision too bad and the blue works well for other tasks. They were $5 for 3 so I have them scattered within reach in AS.

I probably have a dozen flashlights stashed in "logical" places. Unfortunately, when I need one it doesn't seem to be right at hand! I love the new LED models that allow a focused or broader beam. I keep 4 in SilverLeaf, including one with heavy duty velcro that's in the open compartment next to my bed. VERY handy.

Total disclosure: I'm NOT so happy with upgrades... they all seem to be failing in some way this week. I will bite the bullet and get some proper LED lights! Sorry if I influenced you in the wrong direction! If I did, hope you have better luck!
