Eureka Springs Ark Campgrounds
We are heading down to Northwest Arkansas this weekend. Our son lives in Fayetteville. We've previously just stayed in a local hotel when we went down, but this time I want to pull the AS and see some of the surrounding area.
Does anyone have any suggestions in NW Arkansas? The Eureka Sprins area in particular.
I thought I better mention, we like peace and quiet. great views and privacy. I'd rather rough it without hook-ups than be in a parking lot type campground..
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

We stayed at Withrow Springs State Park in Arkansas within the last month. It was quiet, not a lot of hiking trails, but interesting. Close to Eureka Springs. When we checked in, the ranger asked if we were coming for a rest. After 24 hours we found out why he asked - it was very peaceful.

Check out Lake Leatherwood...it's about 4 miles east of Eureka Springs on hwy 62.
It will be very quiet this time of year.
They have some cabins and a few rv spots with some open "meadows" for dry camping by the lake.
I go there 2 or 3 times a year to ride the mountain bike trails...the trail around the lake is popular with hikers also.
I have never camped there but it looks nice and quiet all the time.
The road off of 62 is paved but a little rough and the trees hang a little low in spots but it looks doable to me.

I stayed at Lake Dardanelle, near Russellville, earlier this year. I enjoyed it immensely. There are several Corps of Engineers parks around Lake Dardanelle. The CoE parks accept the Interagency Senior Pass (formerly Golden Age Pass) and Access Pass for half-price camping, as well. Most Arkansas CoE parks are open year-round.
Beaver Lake, a lot closer to Eureka Springs, has about a dozen CoE parks around it. Go to this link, Corps Lakes Gateway: Arkansas - Beaver Lake, for more details.

Eureka Springs does have good campgrounds, but when you're nearby Fayetteville, Devil's Den State Park is definitely your destination.
BTW Withrow is about twenty miles from Eureka.
It's one of our favorites!

I looked quickly at Withrow Springs this morning.
It looks perfect. I'll try to check these others out also.
Thanks to all that had suggestions.
I had googled camping near Eureka Springs, and was getting big RV Parks.
I know I sound anti social, we really aren't that bad.
Thanks again

Doesn't sound anti-social to me. Plenty of space between you and your neighbors is always good, even for social butterflies. It's a whole lot easier to invite neighbors over when you want company, than to force them away when you want privacy.

We'll be coming thru Branson later today..
Don't panic, if it looks like someone is driving off with your AS..
23FB, works perfect for us.
What's the best way to get to Withrow from Branson?
Thanks

Eureka Springs, Ark
We also stayed at Wunderlust RV park in March of this year and had a wonderful time. The folks there are very nice and accommodating. Happy Camping!

Take Highway 65 south from Branson, to Highway 62 west to Eureka. In less than 10 miles, take Highway 412 to Huntsville, AR. Withrow is a couple of miles north of Huntsville.
Good luck, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

We happened on to a wonderful campground just north of Eureka Springs, within minutes of Eureka and make it a destination any time we are in the area. It is Beaver Creek Campground... you have to cross over a unique bridge to get to it...but you'll really enjoy it. Quiet, peaceful and right on the Lake/River. Google Beaver Creek Campground in Arkansas..

We camped at Dam Site Campground on Beaver Lake several years ago. It is a COE park so they accept the America the Beautiful senior pass for 1/2 price camping. We were on a peninsula with the lake less than 50' from our door. Very quiet and senic.

Spent the weekend in Withrow SP. Site #20, was great for us.
Dinner in Eureka Spgs on Fri night. Waited over a hour to get seated in the restaurant! 500 Porsche drivers in town, and weddings!
The park was very peaceful, despite it appears to have been full. At least I didn't see any open sites. Did some hiking, and sight seeing, and had a great visit with my son (he just had a short drive from Fayetteville.)
One small disappointment, they had a fire ban in place. Must be due to all the leaves down. We improvised, because charcoal grills were still "ok" ..
I think $30/night is the most I've ever paid for a campsite, at least, in a state or national park.. But is was just what we were looking for.
Thanks again, everyone for all suggestions.
Got to test my driving skills coming home in the dark, driving rain for 300 miles, some on twisty Ark roads, most on I-44 with lots of truckers.. Some going 50 in the rain, too slow, and others going 75, with very limited visibility, in the dark, driving rain, too fast.. Ha.. Glad I was pulling an AS..
