I Want to be Annoying to the Very End....and then Some
After reading this thread, my last wish is this: the memorial service will be concurrent with the cremation, and the attendees will be seated downwind.
The musical accompaniment shall be this: Just this one song....played over and over and......

Not to get too technical, but I said that I don't like girls talking like valley girls. I didn't say I don't like the valley girls or girls in general, (which, by the way, is using a double negative in a sentence).
If I had to choose between Bevis and Butthead, I would choose Valley Girls... or any girls, for that matter.
By the way, I was so inspired by this campfire thread, I lit up a medium-large one late yesterday afternoon in the side yard, burning the debris left after the snow has finally melted. The wife, the kids, the old neighbors, and the new neighbors; we all enjoyed a few hours of conversation and liquid refreshment, as we watched the flames dance, die down, and finally turn to glowing embers, resulting from an afternoon's honest labor cleaning up our properties. Most enjoyable.
So here it is Sunday morning, and I am doing something I don't usually do on a Sunday; that is washing all the wood smoke smelling clothes we were wearing last night. (Wood smoke still smells better than a wet dog.)

Poor taste is in the eye of the beholder , I think poor taste is going camping and hating campfires , buying a house near an airport and complaining about planes, that would be poor taste . I cant figure out what is wrong with people "hey lets get a trailer and complain what every one has been doing for 100 years" thats poor taste ,

Making unsubstantiated statements that people who hate campfires are book burners and looters is in poor taste. Your words: "These are the same people who love book burnings and mass riots and looting." The same people, you said. That is an accusation against every person who has expressed an opinion about campfires.
You're free to disagree with their opinion about campfires. I do. I don't build campfires for just me because it's more hassle than it's worth, but I am all in favor of group campfires. But just because you disagree with someone does not give you the right to insult them or accuse them of illegal or antisocial activities without evidence.
No one here has advocated trying to impose their beliefs against campfires on others by going around and putting them out like some sort of demented vigilante fireman. Comparing the anti-campfire folks on this thread to book burners who try to violently determine what other people can read is therefore incorrect and inappropriate. Comparing people who simply express an honest opinion about campfires to looters who wantonly steal the belongings of others in a crisis (I still remember how some of my neighbors' apartments were looted after Hurricane Katrina) is incorrect and inappropriate.
Rather than justifying your outrageously inappropriate comments with additional and equally inappropriate comparisons, you should be apologizing for insulting everyone who is trying to hold a frank and open discussion on the merits, or lack thereof, of campfires. I still ask that you please apologize for your insults. If they were accidental insults, an apology should be easy. If the insults were deliberate, an apology should be mandatory even if it's not easy.

This is an example of how to make irrational overstatements in the hope of making a point by slamming people over the head with it. Such overstatements are a good way of making sure people ignore what is said.
Though it is tempting to make personal attacks on people who annoy me, most of us find it to be counterproductive. Attacking just about everyone on this thread is even more counterproductive.

Since the beginning of man we have huddled around a fire....if u don't like the freedom of being able to light a fire then go back to your airconditioned bubble with your tv and your dishwasher let the rest of us enjoy nature with our families..thank you that is all

It is not my intent to fan the flame (no pun intended) but I do not understand the juxtaposition of campfire haters with book burners and rioters. The latter also creates smoke.

Why are there only two options?
No campfire and anything goes?
Isn't there some moderation possible?
Does freedom for one group mean smoke everywhere and fires very close to other RV's?
What about freedom from smoke and fire danger?
How is a campfire what nature intended? Nature doesn't "intend" anything unless "nature" is sentient, but what nature brings are forest and brush fires. Campfires are man made, not nature made.

Now I am forced to correct myself. I actually said that I don't like "people" who talk like valley girls.
Which brings me to:

Why didn't I make this connection?!? (insert head slap here) I could of had a V-8.

Fly at Night, you have struck the match squarely on the head. How could a campfire hater ever be confused with a book burner or a rioter, (I'm talking the "burn baby burn" rioter ilk)???
A campfire hater certainly would not be seen at a book burning or be caught dead rioting downtown Detroit on Halloween night. Both of these activities create tremendous amounts of smoke and ash, not to mention the clouds of tear gas associated with the latter.
I think Mr. Kipper needs to rethink his "juxtapositions,"
(I actually had to look that one up, and for no other reason than a little comic relief, at this time I would like to insert this comment which I found while looking it up:
In the coming New Year, 2012, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address will occur on the same day.
This is an ironic juxtaposition of events.
One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to an insignificant creature of little intelligence for prognostication.
The other involves a groundhog)
And Mr. Protagonist, I'd like to say I feel your pain because I mostly agree with you, however:

and then you end with this?

I know I edited the above quote, and it may be slightly out of context, however, not that much out of context.
I doubt if any of us on either side of this discussion need defending from Mr. Kipper. After all, how could anyone living in a town called Hatboro, (possibly pronounced "Hate-boro"??), PA discuss the subject of hating anything intelligently?
Besides, you should feel fortunate to have Mr. Kipper around, because every Protagonist needs an Antagonist. Lighten up and show him a little love.
