The more the merrier! Last year we did Thanksgiving boondocked in Big Bend National Park (TX) with a fried turkey, potatoes, all the fixings. Looking forward to the same this year in DV. It may not exactly be your traditional Thanksgiving, but it sure was awesome for us!

I'm getting a good sense for activities in DV. What do people do as far as campsites. We are prepared to boondock or could camp at a campground. Thoughts/recommendations? Again, we'll be in DV 4-5 days.

We'll be there that week now that you mention it...

As for camping you have Texas Springs, Mesquite Springs (might be a little cold at that time), Stovepipe Wells (they have a few spots with full hookups).

We enjoyed DV on our visit last January. We stayed at Texas Springs upper CG, no hookups (generators not allowed). From there we could visit most of the sites of interest in DV. The Titus Canyon drive was closed due to rock slides.......but we've been told this is a must drive (need an AWD and high clearance) because of the scenic views. Ubehebe crater was worth the drive to the rim.....and if you're adventursome, you can hike down to the bottom. The artists drive and artists palette were also interesting with splashes of colored volcanic rock. Dante's View drive was also closed when we were there. We stayed only three nights and still only saw about 1/3 of the points of interest. We'll be back to enjoy it's solitude, scenic views and geologic wonders!

A few questions for you that know Death Valley well.

1, Is diesel sold in Death Valley?

2, Campgrounds. Hookups or Boondocking is fine but I'd need to run the Honda 1000 every now and again to charge the batteries. Also is it allowed to B-B-Q a turkey there?
