Check out my Airstream Travel Blog! (thelonglonghoneymoon.com)
Hi folks,
My wife and I have started a travel blog to document our "long, long honeymoon." We are traversing the USA for a couple of months in our Airstream, taking pics and video along the way.
There's no fixed agenda, though our first stop was at Airstream of Arkansas! If you have ever been curious to see the legendary Gene Morris in his native environment, now's your chance.
The Long, Long Honeymoon: Airstream of Arkansas
Anyway, I hope some of you find the blog interesting. We are having fun making it.

That is very cool. I enjoy seeing people's travel blogs and dreaming of the day when we can do the same. Enjoy!

Sounds like fun...
Sean and Kristy-
Another enjoying the blog, and posts here... I love the notion that a trip like yours is not so much "character-building" as "Character Revealing.." By the end of the trip, you should know each other very very well...
Hope you have a chance to zip north towards East Glacier and Glacier National Park.. It's worth the detour, even if you have to hurry home across Nebraska or South Dakota again...
John

Thanks all...
Gene, good to hear that Tye and Emily made it to you. They are definitely devout Airstreamers!
John, we are definitely planning to head north and visit Glacier. I have an old buddy in Missoula that we'll visit. Then I think we'll head West to Seattle.
Kristy and I are definitely spending a lot of quality time together on this trip. A friend who specializes in quality control called this adventure a "soak test" for our marriage.

Sean,
Great blog !
My wife (suni) and I enjoyed reviewing your trip. We plan on going to Yellostone in May 2008 and it was kinda neat that we got a sneak peak inside Yellowstone other then watching the travel channel.
We wait in anticipation for your next entry.

Sean and Kristy, just read your blog and watched the video's. I recently bought a 25' Classic so I'm very interested in how the space works for you in your fulltime adventures. Good luck and looking forward to reading more.

Thanks for everyone's comments.
Rick, I am a Yellowstone-aholic, having worked in the Park a couple of seasons. But I must confess that this visit has also sold me on the merits of the Grand Tetons & Jackson. Our boondocking site is about 15 minutes from Jackson. So you get the Park and the town (for $17 a night, no less). And the crowds have been MINIMAL compared to Yellowstone. We could stay 14 days in they same spot if we wanted, whereas we were having trouble finding 2 consecutive nights in YNP. So if you are planning a YNP trip, BOOK YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW.
Jack, so far we are very pleased with our 25-foot Classic. Of course, there's always that little voice inside your head (one that sounds an AWFUL lot like Gene Morris ;-)) whispering about the 30-footers and beyond. We are 2 weeks into this adventure, and so far have been quite comfortable. Like everything else, there are tradeoffs. The bigger models offer more living space, but at the expense of towability and maneuverability. I'm finding our 25-footer to be ideal for 2 people, but Kristy was certainly impressed with those shiny new units in Arkansas.

Sean & Kristy,
Great blog - great pix/video (good editing, too!). What a treat, thanks! Hey maybe y'all could do this fulltiming reviewing and rating parks and camping sites around the country for the Travel channel & Airstream... hummm, something tells me Kristy would have to be convinced...

Thanks Jaxon! Kristy says she is "deeply offended" by your remark -- ha ha
BTW, I like your Travel Channel idea and must admit that the same thing has crossed my mind. With a couple of corporate sponsors, we could really jazz up a blog!
I'm glad you like the videos. Editing video can be a time intensive task, especially when -- as in my case -- it seems a new technical glitch pops up every day. My goal is to do a new one in the next day or so, assuming I can get my laptop to cooperate!

One of the most entertaining blogs on fulltiming. Glad to hear the 25 Classic is working out. When I bought mine I actually had a deposit check written for a 34' special order ( a couple of small changes) but my wife put the pressure on for something smaller. We love it but some times I do think about that extra living space and storage. Even if we owned a 34' it would be nice to be able to keep the 25', it's a great size for travel.

Very cool blog indeed, thanks for plugging the forums!
Mastering basic video editing has been a skill I want to acquire. I spent a little time with an Avid about 8 years ago but have not been in front of any video editing systems since then. Any recommendations on sites or software for me to check out?

Thanks to all for your comments. We are having a great deal of fun with the blog. I hope we can sustain it throughout our journey. I'll strive to update frequently, if possible. (This may prove difficult in remote campgrounds, but I'll do my best.)
As for the 25-footer, I'm very happy with it. Yesterday we went to a local RV place to pick up a few items, and found ourselves browsing all the different models. Our 25-footer is like a cozy cottage (at least that's how I like to think of it).
Andy, with regard to editing video, I've had the most success using Adobe Premiere Pro. I'm now experimenting with Sony Vegas (mainly because my laptop is having weird issues with Premiere). If you are a Mac person, try Final Cut Pro. Start slow with simple projects, and build from there. With video, you never run out of skills to learn!

Sean and Kristy,
You are our heroes. We upgraded from a 22 when we learned people full-time in Airstream trailers. Cool! So we super-sized all the way, to a 25. We decided our truck and trailer define how much stuff we take with us. Full-timing starts August 9 with a Vancouver and back adventure, then touch base one more time before we close on the house and the remaining car. We love looking at the RV shows and other Airstreams, but can't find any we like better than ours. Are we in denial? We'll go with it, for now. Then redefine this with our experiences.
Thank you for adding to the concept of 'Small Is Beautiful'. But wait! This Airstream is way larger than our backpacking tent. Not so small after all.
Thanks for your excellent sharing and very nice writing.

Jim, many thanks for your comments. We are having a blast with the blog, and I'm gratified that people are enjoying it.
And I know what you mean about Airstream vis-a-vis the alternatives. We've looked at many RVs (and I suppose it's human nature to always keep looking). However, none had the panache and quality of Airstream. Sure, in every campground there are some massive motorhomes and 5th wheels. But as you point out, there are also plenty of tents. So I guess we're right in the middle, which is fine with me.
